FAQ

How many days do you need in Riviera Maya?

Three to five days is enough for one or two main bases, cenotes, beaches, and a ruin day, while seven to ten days lets you add Cozumel, Holbox, or Bacalar.

Is it better to start in Cancun, Playa del Carmen, or Tulum?

Cancun is easiest for airport access, Playa del Carmen is the most flexible central base, and Tulum works best if the southern coast is the point of the trip.

Can you travel Riviera Maya without a rental car?

Yes, especially if you keep bases simple in Cancun, Puerto Morelos, Playa del Carmen, or Tulum. Cenote combinations, Bacalar, and some nature days are easier with a car, driver, or tour.

What is a good first-time Riviera Maya itinerary?

A practical first route is Playa del Carmen plus either Tulum or Puerto Morelos, with cenotes, one reef day, one ruins day, and only one longer detour if you have enough time.
